Diamond grading is the process used to evaluate the true characteristics and therefore the true value of a diamond. IGL’s diamond gradin process is well known for our unique eight-step process.
It is essential for each diamond proprietor to know the credentials of their diamond in order to obtain confidence and assurance of the integrity of what they have acquired. An IGTL Diamond or Gemstone Certificate is a statement issued by one of our independent gemological Testing laboratories documenting the characteristics of the stone as determined by our experienced diamond graders at the time of evaluation.
A diamond's value is based on four main characteristics known as the "4C". Clarity, color and cut (proportion) together with the carat weight determine the value of a stone.
Hearts and Arrows Diamonds are precision cut variations of the traditional 57 faceted round brilliant cut. They are cut to “ideal proportions” with superior optical symmetry and a specific faceting pattern. When all these factors are in harmony the result is a repeatable, near perfect pattern of eight symmetrical arrows in the face up position and eight symmetrical hearts when viewed in the table down position.
IGTL laboratories issue Diamond Certificates, Jewelry Certificates, Gem Certificate.
In order to verify which certificate is associated with wich stone, the certificate number can be inscribed on the girdle of each diamond. For an additional fee, IGTL Laboratories can also inscribe company names or personal messages on the stone’s girdle.
